Minnesnowta ~ we have escaped the snow for a bit, and we are in sunny Scottsdale, Arizona. For my husband, part of the trip is business, and part is vacation. For me, it's all vacation! Oh yes, I'm truly a lady of leisure during our respite from cold and snow.
A friend is staying at our house and shoveling snow. Do we miss shoveling? No indeed! Do we feel sorry for our friend? No Yes indeed!
Anyhow, I wanted to share a picture with you. It was taken with my cell phone camera because I forgot to grab the camera before we left the hotel, so it's not the best picture. But there is a story that goes with it.
Thirty-one years ago when my husband was working for IBM, he won an award that included a trip to Phoenix for a conference and some fun thrown in, too. The award only covered expenses for Lynn, but we splurged ~ and it was a splurge at that time in our lives ~ and I went to Phoenix, too. Our girls stayed with friends, and off we went. I think it was in April.Although spouses couldn't participate in most of the activities, one of the activities we were included in was a steak dinner at Pinnacle Peak Patio. I think it was one of the best steak dinners I've ever had. But I never gave any thought to having another steak dinner at Pinnacle Peak.
Fast forward 31 years, and here we are in Arizona again. Pinnacle Peak Patio hasn't changed much except that there has been much development around it. The first time we were there, it was literally "out in the middle of nowhere."
And the steaks are as delicious as I remember. And the restaurant itself was just as I remember. Why is it so memorable? Because there are men's ties ~ you read that correctly, ties ~ hanging from the ceiling and the walls. City slickers with ties are not allowed, so ties are cut off and hung up for display. Yes, its' a memorable place, for the food and the fun.

PS: Our waiter told us that developers may be buying the property, which means Pinnacle Peak Patio will no doubt disappear for new development. It's been here since 1957, and personally, I think it will be sad when it's gone.
Blessings,
Wanita

I checked out Pinnacle Peak Patio, and it looks like a root'n toot'n place. I wonder just how many ties are hanging all around. I would love to sink my teeth into one of those steaks!
I am so happy you got to take a trip to some warm weather. Have a great time!
My hubby is leaving for Hawaii on Wednesday. I decided not to go this time. I have been there before. I will miss the warm weather though.
Is it hot? Oh my word, you are far from home. I like your story. I've been there too. We use to live in Phoenix in the late 70's.
