Made From Scratch

Graphic courtesy of karenswhimsy.com

The more I read food labels, the more I want to make everything from scratch! So today I'm sharing some "made from scratch" recipes that I found in blogland. I plan to try them, and thought perhaps you might like to try them as well.

Homemade ricotta cheese from Simple-Green-Frugal
Homemade Bisquick mix from Safely Gathered In
Homemade Ranch dressing mix from Stop and Smell the Chocolates
Homemade yogurt from A Year of CrockPotting

I have made yogurt in the crockpot and like it very much. It's not as thick as store-bought, but it's delicious. I add fruit and sometimes maple syrup to a cup of yogurt for a delicious breakfast.

One of the best things about cooking from scratch is that you can avoid things like MSG or high-fructose corn syrup or ingredients you can't pronounce let alone know what they are.

I would love to know if you try any of these and how you like them.

Sweet made from scratch blessings,
Wanita

Wonderful recipes Wanita, my Mom makes homemade yogurt but I never have. I'll have to wander off to read over the recipes you've shared. :)
