For my devotions, I've been reading in the book of Exodus. This morning I read the about the Israelites building and worshipping the golden calf while Moses was on the mountain receiving the ten commandments from God (Exodus 31-33).
When God saw what was happening, he sent Moses back to the camp to deal with the people. As a result of their sin, God said He would send an angel before them to drive out their enemies, but He would not go with them to the promised land.
Moses, however, spoke with the Lord and asked, "How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?" (Exodus 33:16). Because God was pleased with Moses, He said he would do what Moses asked.
As followers of Christ, we ~ I ~ need to ask that same question. How will anyone know that God is pleased with us? What distinguishes us, as Christians, from all the other people on the face of the earth? Or does anything distinguish us? Have we become so much like the rest of the world that no one sees anything different about us, no one has a reason to ask about the hope we have because of Christ?

My prayer is that those of us who are Christians will show by the way we live that we are different because of Jesus. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life; and he has freed us from our sins and from the shame and guilt that accompanies them. May His love shine through us and draw others to Him.

WELL, Wanita, you really hit the nail on the head with this post!
It has taken me years and years to figure this out. I did all the right things and went to all the right places, but I didn't allow God the control of my life. I was controlling everything. I did not understand the relinquishing of daily activity to him. I am still on that journey. My husband says that I am much easier to live with now. Ha! Ha!
Cherdecor, When I read those verses, they really "hit me between the eyes." I still struggle with resting in the Lord and letting Him lead. How thankful I am for his great patience!

Very beautiful Wanita! :) In my minds eye I can picture the calf of gold. I pray I never have a calf in my life.
Thank you for you thoughts and prayers as I was ill. It means so much to me :).
