True Confession

OK, I confess. I did not go to Weight Watchers over the holidays. There were just too many things going on! What? You say if I really wanted to I could have fit it in? Well...yes...I suppose I could have. But at the time, it seemed like one more thing on my to do list, so I decided not to do it for a couple of weeks.

But today I went to my meeting, and I will keep going. I have no intention of quitting, and I certainly don't plan to take breaks very often! Fortunately, I had only a small weight gain of .6 lb. Whew! I did expect it to be more.

I must also confess that I've been playing around with gaining, then losing, the same 3 lbs. since September. Now my goal is to get back on track and lose the remaining pounds, about 73 of them.

Let me tell you, it can be overwhelming to think about losing so much weight. But I've lost 27 lbs. so far, and I feel better already. Aiming for small goals seems to work best for me ~ lose 5 lbs., then another 5; exercise at least 3 days per week; eat more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains; drink more water.

I also know that this is about more than weight loss. It's about a lifestyle change that will bring about the weight loss and allow me to keep it off. It was hard to wrap my mind around the fact that there can be no going back to old eating habits after the weight is gone. Will there be times when I fail? There already have been. But I'm determined to pick myself up and get back on track when that happens.

Perhaps you want to lose some weight, too. I highly recommend Weight Watchers (they don't pay me to say that). Their program is healthy and easy to follow. You can check it out at weightwatchers.com.

Blessings,
Wanita

It's a life long battle for many of us. I went to WW for years but I haven:)'t had much success since they started the new points program, perhaps with age our bodies change. You have done so well Wanita, keep up the good work!

What? You only gained .6? That is amazing! I gained 4 pounds over Christmas, I am ashamed to say. You go girl!

Wanita, I am so happy for you. That is quite an accomplishment. You know, I have always been (well until the last couple years) a little bitty person and never had to discipline myself as to diet or amounts. In fact, at 85 pounds I had to eat to GAIN weight. But something happened over the past 4 years since I turned 40. I've gained ALOT and it has been so difficult to change eating habits of 40 years.

But your post gives me encouragement. I need to just start with small increments and lifestyle changes. Thanks for sharing your heart.

Blessings,
Lea
